Winter Botanicals

Six mornings of seasonal drawing, painting and creative exploration.

Wednesday mornings, 4th November–9th December 2026 10.30am–12.30pm | Six-week course

Discover the beauty of winter through its rich evergreen foliage, jewel-bright berries, sculptural pine cones and delicate bare branches. Join me at The Art Cabin for a relaxed, creative course exploring the colours, shapes and textures of the season through botanical drawing and watercolour.

Each week brings a fresh theme, with guided demonstrations and time to explore techniques, develop your observation skills and enjoy creating your own botanical artwork. We’ll look at ways to combine expressive lines, soft washes and carefully chosen details, building towards a final winter arrangement that brings your favourite elements together.

Our weekly themes are:

  • 4th November — Evergreen Elegance Explore holly, ivy, eucalyptus and other winter greenery, capturing different leaf shapes, flowing stems and beautiful variations of green.

  • 11th November — Winter Berries Discover colourful berries nestled among evergreen foliage, experimenting with rounded shapes, little clusters, highlights and rich seasonal colour.

  • 18th November — Pine Cones & Fir Sprigs Explore the structure of pine cones and the delicacy of evergreen needles, simplifying intricate forms and building texture through drawing and paint.

  • 25th November — The Bare Beauty of Winter Find inspiration in twisting branches, bark, lichen and delicate seed heads, with expressive lines, subtle colours and interesting surface textures.

  • 2nd December — Winter in Bloom A week devoted to the poinsettia, exploring its striking reds, deep green leaves and beautifully overlapping shapes.

  • 9th December — A Gathering of Winter Bring favourite elements together in a winter wreath, botanical border or gathered arrangement, creating a personal piece to finish the course.

All art materials are included—just bring an apron and your curiosity!

Refreshments aren’t provided, but you’re very welcome to bring your own drink or pick one up from Arthurs Café to enjoy during the session.

We aim to finish by 12.30pm, although we sometimes run a little over.

You’ll find us at The Art Cabin, Hut 2, Craft Village, Coolings Garden Centre, Rushmore Hill, Knockholt, Kent, TN14 7NN, behind Arthurs Café. Free parking is available.

If you have any questions, please email sara@theartcabin.org or call 07540 688720.

I’m looking forward to sharing six lovely mornings of winter-inspired creativity with you.
