Step into the richly coloured, jewel-like world of Gustav Klimt in this beautiful and immersive Paint It Like Klimt workshop, inspired by his stunning painting Bauerngarten (Flower Garden), 1907.
 
This extraordinary artwork famously sold for $48 million, and now it’s your turn to take inspiration from this masterpiece and create your own version, guided step by step by Melanie Ann Juliette.
Flower Garden is innovative in its square composition and unusual perspective, immersing the viewer in a dense, lush, tranquil scene. The painting has no single focal point, instead presenting a patchwork of flowers that creates a tapestry-like effect across the canvas. Its rich, glowing colours form a jewel-like impression, making it one of Klimt’s most mesmerising landscape works.
 
Klimt painted these landscapes in the Austrian countryside during the summer purely for relaxation, giving us a peaceful, decorative view of nature that feels both calming and luxurious.
 
In this workshop, you’ll explore Klimt’s style and artistic approach before creating your own interpretation of Flower Garden using acrylic paints. You’ll have time to play with colour, composition, and technique before moving onto your final canvas board, resulting in a vibrant, expressive masterpiece of your own.

☕ Good to know:
Refreshments will not be served during the session. However, you’re very welcome to grab a drink from Arthur’s Café, or a bite to eat from Arthur’s Café or the on-site Artisan Bakery at Coolings Garden Centre before or after the class. Please bring an apron to protect your clothing.
